Thanks for using Reps & Sets.

I co-created this app as a hobby project, way back in 2012. It was originally designed for iOS 6. Some of the code in the app still dates back to that original release. It’s now 12 years old and showing its age.

Over the years, we’ve patched the code to work with new versions of iOS. And we’ve added support for new features like HealthKit, Apple Watch, and dark mode. But there’s only so far we can take this codebase, which has become unstable.

It’s my ambition to develop a completely new version of the app, rewritten from scratch, but I can’t make any guarantees if/when this will be ready, because this is still a hobby project we do in our spare time.

In the meantime, I’ve taken down the paywall in Version 4.0, to make the entire app free to use and existing subscribers will no longer be charged. Version 4.0 is a new app on the App Store, rather than an update to the previous version. So, you can download the new app (with a green/blue icon) and install it alongside the old app (with a blue icon). Use the Backup & Restore feature in the app’s History tab to save your workouts to your iCloud Drive. You can then restore your workouts in the new app.

The new app is unstable and provided free, on an “as-in” basis. I recommend that you use the Export Data feature in the History tab to save a copy of your workout data in CSV format, so you can view it in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Apple Numbers.

You should consider using a different gym logging app. But if you decide to stick with Reps & Sets, please regularly use the Backup & Restore tool in the History tab to make manual backups of your workout data, just in case the app crashes and you lose your data.

Since I have no direct way to communicate with Reps & Sets users, I’ll post any updates here, to let you know if there’s anything new to report. If you have any questions, you can email me at graham@reps.io.
